Sustainable Kingston's mission is to enhance the livability and resiliency of Kingston.

We Do this by sharing knowledge and providing programs that drive community action.


From 2017-2020, Sustainable Kingston is focusing its work on driving measurable improvements in the Kingston community across 6 priority areas:

  • Environmental Stewardship
  • Sense of Community
  • Sustainable Transportation
  • Economic Prosperity
  • Food Security

OUR History

In 2012, Sustainable Kingston was created as a non-profit organization by the City of Kingston. The organization's purpose is to support the Kingston community in achieving its vision of becoming Canada's most sustainable city.



In collaboration with the City of Kingston, Sustainable Kingston works to develop and implement the Sustainable Kingston Action Plan.

Together we are driving measurable progress towards sustainability.


The Sustainable Kingston Board of Directors and the City of Kingston have approved the Sustainable Kingston 2016-2020 Strategic Plan.

The new plan is characterized by Sustainable Kingston having a more active role in developing meaningful programs that will help us achieve organizational and community goals.

Volunteer Opportunities 

Our volunteers directly contribute to projects, event planning, and research associated with the organization. Volunteering is a great way to meet new like-minded individuals while contributing to meaningful projects that take place in the Kingston community.
