About the Program

Sustainable Kingston's Green Economy program is one of 7 Green Economy Hubs across Ontario supporting networks of businesses to set and achieve sustainability targets. Together we are demonstrating a more sustainable economy is possible.

With guidance and tools from the program, members of the network are leading by example by measuring, reducing, and setting targets on their carbon footprints.

How it works

The program is run under a membership model. Members gain access to a suite of resources that help them advance sustainability within their organization.

  • Carbon Footprint Services*
  • Annual Sustainability Reports

As a Green Economy Hub, Sustainable Kingston's Green Economy program supports a network of local businesses committed to setting and achieving sustainability targets.

There are currently 7 Green Economy Hubs hosted by community organizations focused on driving sustainability. Together, we work with over 240 businesses across Canada.

Green Economy is supported by the City of Kingston & aligns with both the Kingston Climate Action Plan & the Sustainable Kingston Plan.

*Metrics included in the carbon footprints vary among members. All include electricity and natural gas consumption at a minimum, and many members also track the use (and associated carbon emissions) of elements such as water, landfill waste, recycling, compost, and fuel use by fleet vehicles.  All analyses are in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard as published by the World Resources Institute and World Business Council for Sustainable Development.
