The Climate Resilience Series
Kingston’s climate is changing, and this presents severe challenges for residents, businesses, and community support organizations. Data shows that wildfires, heatwaves, flooding, and other extreme weather events are increasingly disrupting services, straining resources, and threatening vulnerable populations.
To assist in navigating these changes, Sustainable Kingston is hosting a series of free online resources to equip Kingston’s workers and residents with the tools and strategies needed to adapt to climate change.
ADAPTATION: “…planning for and acting on the anticipated impacts of climate change. It involves making changes to how we live and what we do before climate change impacts happen in order to reduce their impact (anticipatory) as well as being more ready to respond to increasingly likely and frequent extreme events (reactive).”
MITIGATION: “A human intervention to reduce emissions or enhance the sinks of greenhouse gases.”
RESILIENCE: “…our capacity to prepare for, respond to, and recover from impacts and disruptions.”
