Make Your Next Event More Sustainable
Planning a community event, festival, or gathering? The 3 Sustainable Rs offers practical advice, helpful links, and resources to help you make your events more sustainable. Specializing in waste reduction and diversion at events, the website helps organizers explore ways to reduce waste sent to landfill and make more environmentally conscious choices within their communities.
Created by Gabriella Dee, the website draws on a background in ecology, environmental science, and waste management. Gabriella holds a PhD in Limnology (freshwater ecology) from Lehigh University and taught Ecology and Environmental Science for 14 years at Moravian Academy Upper School in Pennsylvania. After moving to the Kingston area, she completed a Master's of Environmental Studies at Queen's University, specializing in waste management.
Her research included waste reduction and diversion at a local festival, and she has since volunteered at five local festivals, helping organizers divert waste from landfill. This has included encouraging food vendors to switch from plastic packaging to compostable alternatives and ensuring organic materials are sent to local composting facilities.
The Waste Diversion at Events page features practical tips and a how-to guide informed by this experience.
Whether you're organizing a festival, planning a community gathering, or looking for ways to support sustainability locally, explore the resources available at The 3 Sustainable Rs and discover ideas you can put into practice.
